On June 1, 2010, the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice and the Drexel University School of Public Health co-sponsored an event with keynote speaker Geoffrey Canada of the Harlem Children's Zone. The event launched the Spare the Rod collaborative effort to end corporal punishment and to provide professionals and parents with information and resources about effective non-physical approaches to child discipline. The event also featured a presentation by Dr. Sanda Bloom on trauma and early brain development. Read more here.
