Former U.S. Senator Max Cleland recently appeared on NPR's Fresh Air to discuss his new memoir Heart of a Patriot. After 9/11, the loss of his Senate seat and the beginning of the Iraq War triggered a relapse of PTSD from his experience of losing three of his limbs as a soldier in Vietnam.
