Expansion to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

The Healing Hurt People (HHP) program at the Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice has expanded its services to the trauma department at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. This expansion enables St. Chris’s to provide additional mental health and social support to young victims of trauma and intentional injury between the ages of 8 and 21. Located in close proximity to five public schools, a primary impetus for this expansion is the high incident rate of intentional injury among school-age children. This partnership utilizes St. Christopher’s pre-existing relationship with the Philadelphia School District to connect intentionally injured youth identified by the Office of School Climate and Safety with HHP.

In its expansion to St. Christopher’s, HHP seeks to engage parents and guardians and incorporate them into the healing process, including the S.E.L.F. groups.
